Phoenix Roof Insurance Claims
What Roof Insurance Claim Support Actually Covers
Phoenix Roofing & Repair handles the roofing side of a roof insurance claim in Phoenix, AZ, for homeowners and property managers. We inspect for free, photograph and measure the damage, and write a repair scope your carrier can price. You file the claim. We are on the roof with your adjuster, making sure the estimate reflects what is there.
Documented First
Photos and measurements before anyone calls the carrier.
Every Adjuster Meeting
We attend all of them, 100% of the time.
One Company, Start to Finish
One point of contact from inspection to final paperwork.
Deductible Collected in Full
Arizona law, and we will not pretend otherwise.
What sinks most of the claims we see is documentation, not coverage. An adjuster walking a roof once, from the ground or a ladder, sees the obvious hits and misses the rest. Our inspectors are HAAG Certified, which is the damage-assessment credential, and they get on the roof before anyone talks to a carrier. If the damage traces to age rather than a storm, we say so. That conversation belongs on a Phoenix storm damage roof repair job or a planned replacement, not on a claim that will be denied.
Claim Support
What We Handle on a Phoenix Roof Claim
Free Documented Inspection
A HAAG Certified inspector gets on the roof and walks every slope, recording what the storm actually did. It costs nothing, and you get the findings whether or not there is a claim in them.
- Every slope walked, not viewed from a ladder
- Findings shown to you before any carrier call
- An honest no when the damage is age, not storm
Photo & Measurement Evidence
Dated photographs of each damaged area, plus slope measurements and a record of what was found. Carriers pay on evidence. A claim filed on a phone description is a claim filed short.
- Dated photos tied to a location on the roof
- Slope by slope measurements, not a rough total
- A copy for you, in a form the carrier accepts
A Written Repair Scope
A line item scope of the repair or replacement the damage calls for, priced and written out. Your carrier prices the same work from its own software, and those two documents are what the adjuster meeting is about.
- Line items, not a single lump sum number
- Written after a crew is on the roof, never before
- Code required work priced with the repair
Supplement Preparation
When the carrier's first estimate leaves work out, a supplement documents what was missed and why it belongs in the scope. Most homeowners never hear the word. It is where a short claim gets corrected.
- Missed slopes and accessories itemized
- Code upgrades documented with the code section
- Photo evidence attached to every added line
Adjuster Meeting Attendance
We attend every adjuster meeting, 100% of the time. We walk the adjuster through what we found, point at the photos, and answer the technical questions about the roof. You stay in charge of your claim.
- On the roof with the adjuster, not waiting below
- Technical questions answered on the spot
- Nothing signed or agreed on your behalf
Done By Our Own Crews
The Approved Work, Done In House
Once the scope is approved, Phoenix Roofing & Repair crews do the work. One company from the inspection to the paperwork that releases your depreciation.
Coverage
Does Homeowners Insurance Cover Roof Damage in Arizona?
Arizona policies generally pay for sudden and accidental damage, and generally do not pay for wear. That single line decides most claims. A microburst that lifts a field of tile is sudden. Underlayment cooked through by summer after summer of 150 degree surface temperatures is wear, and no amount of paperwork turns one into the other. What makes Phoenix claims hard is that the two arrive together: heat weakens the seals and fasteners for months, then one storm finishes them in twenty minutes.
Wind and microburst damage
Lifted or slipped tile, shingle tabs torn off, displaced flashing, vents pulled loose. The classic covered loss here.
Hail and impact
Bruised or fractured tile, granule loss in the field, dented vents and caps, and debris punctures.
Resulting water damage
Interior damage that follows a covered roof loss is usually covered with it. The roof and the ceiling are one claim.
Age and ordinary wear
Dried out underlayment, UV degradation, a roof simply past its service life. Real problems. Not a claim.
Phoenix Roofing & Repair will tell you which one you have before you open a roof damage insurance claim. That is the whole point of a free inspection. If a roof is worn out rather than storm damaged, filing anyway wastes weeks and puts a denial on your record. Read whether Arizona homeowners insurance covers roof leaks for the leak-specific version of this question.
ACV or RCV: What Your Policy Pays and When
Two policies can cover the same storm and pay very different amounts. The difference is one line in your declarations page, and it is worth finding before you file. Here is what each one does.
ACV, Actual Cash Value
Actual cash value pays replacement cost minus depreciation. The carrier subtracts the value the roof already used up before the storm.
Age drives the deduction. A twelve year old shingle roof has spent much of its service life, and an ACV settlement reflects that.
That depreciation is not recoverable. On a true ACV policy there is no second check, so the gap between the settlement and the real cost is yours.
Premiums are lower for a reason. ACV coverage costs less each year and pays less at the one moment you need it.
Check the declarations page. Many Arizona policies quietly moved roofs to ACV at renewal. It is worth reading before a storm, not after.
RCV, Replacement Cost Value
Replacement cost value pays what the new roof actually costs. Depreciation still gets withheld at first, but you can get it back.
The first check is the ACV amount minus your deductible. That number surprises people. It is not the whole settlement.
The second check is the recoverable depreciation. It releases after the work is documented, the step homeowners miss.
Completion paperwork is what releases it. We submit the final invoice and photos so the carrier has what it needs to send the balance.
There is usually a deadline. Most policies set a window to claim the depreciation. Miss it and the money stays with the carrier.
Not sure which one your policy is? Bring the declarations page to the inspection. Phoenix Roofing & Repair will read it with you and tell you what the first check is likely to look like, so the number does not come as a shock three weeks in.
Who Does the Work
What a Roofer Can Do on Your Claim, and What We Will Not Do
After a storm, somebody will knock on your door and offer to handle everything with your insurance company. Be careful with that offer. In Arizona a contractor is licensed by the Registrar of Contractors to work on roofs. Negotiating a claim on your behalf takes a separate public adjuster license from the Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions. Phoenix Roofing & Repair holds the first one. We do not hold the second, and we do not pretend to.
We document and we measure
Dated photographs, slope measurements, and a written record of the damage, handed to you to file with.
We price the repair
A written scope of the work the roof needs, in line items, against which the carrier's estimate can be read.
We are on the roof with your adjuster
At your invitation, walking the damage and answering the technical questions. Every meeting, 100% of the time.
We do not represent you to the carrier
You file, you sign, you decide. A roofer who offers to run the claim for you is describing licensed adjuster work.
What to Do When the Claim Comes Back Short
File a Supplement
A supplement is a documented request to add work the first estimate left out. It is not an argument. It is a list of what is on the roof, with photos and code sections attached, and it is the normal way a short estimate gets corrected.
- Slopes or details the adjuster did not reach
- Code required work priced at current rates
- Accessories and flashings missed on the first pass
Ask for a Re-Inspection
Carriers will send an adjuster back out when there is new documentation to look at. A denial written after a ladder inspection often changes once somebody walks the roof with photographs of what is up there.
- Request it in writing, with the new evidence attached
- We attend the second visit the same as the first
- Ask which policy language the denial relies on
Repair Approved, Replacement Denied
The partial approval Phoenix Roofing & Repair sees most often. The carrier funds a patch on a roof where the matching tile or shingle no longer exists, or where the damage crosses several planes. That is a documentation problem, and it is solvable.
- Discontinued material documented with the supplier
- Damage mapped across every affected slope
- Underlayment or decking condition recorded
When You Need Someone Other Than a Roofer
Here is the honest limit. If the dispute is about policy language rather than roof condition, documentation stops being the answer. You want a public adjuster licensed by DIFI, or an attorney. We will say so when you reach that line.
- Coverage disputes, exclusions, and bad faith questions
- Public adjuster licenses are searchable at DIFI
- We keep documenting the roof either way
Arizona Law
Your Deductible, and What Arizona Law Says About It
We never waive, absorb, or rebate deductibles. Any contractor who offers to is breaking the law, and it tells you what else they are willing to cut on your roof. Here is the rule. Here is where it is written.
A deductible is the part of the claim you pay before insurance pays anything. Your policy sets it. On an Arizona roof claim it is collected in full, and that means not discounted, not built back into the estimate, and not quietly forgotten at the end of the job.
Inflating an estimate to cover a deductible is a false statement to an insurer. Arizona makes that a fraudulent practice under A.R.S. 20-463.
Done with intent to defraud the insurer, it is a class 6 felony under A.R.S. 20-466.01. The claim carries your name on it, not only the contractor's.
"We'll cover your deductible" is a sales tactic, not a discount. The money has to come from somewhere, and it comes out of the work that goes on your roof.
Verify anyone before you sign. Contractor licenses are searchable at the Arizona ROC, and adjuster licenses at DIFI. Both lookups are free and take a minute.
You can finance a deductible, and that is a different thing entirely. Financing means you still pay it in full, on terms set by the lender. Waiving it means somebody put a false statement on your claim.
Included at No Extra Cost
The inspection and the documentation. Photos, measurements, and the written record, free whether or not you file.
Attendance at the adjuster meeting. Every one, 100% of the time, with our findings in hand.
Supplement preparation. When the first estimate comes back short, the missed work gets documented and submitted.
Depreciation paperwork. Final invoice and completion photos, so the second check has nothing holding it up.
If someone has already offered to eat your deductible, that is worth a second opinion before you sign. Call and Phoenix Roofing & Repair will inspect the roof and tell you what is actually there.

Process
How a Roof Insurance Claim Works in Phoenix
Free Documented Inspection
A HAAG Certified inspector walks every slope and photographs each damaged area, then measures the roof. You see the findings first. If the damage is wear rather than storm, we say so and there is no claim to file.
You File, With Our Evidence
You call your carrier and open the claim. That call is yours to make. You go in with dated photos, measurements, and a written repair scope instead of a description over the phone. Then the carrier assigns an adjuster and sets an inspection date.
Adjuster Meeting, Then the Work
We are on the roof with your adjuster, pointing at what we found. Then our crews do the approved work. If the estimate came back short we prepare a supplement, and we file the paperwork that releases your depreciation.
Free inspection. Documentation you keep. Every adjuster meeting attended. Phoenix Roofing & Repair serves homeowners and property managers across metro Phoenix.

Common Questions
Phoenix Roof Insurance Claim Questions
Does homeowners insurance cover roof damage in Arizona?
Arizona policies generally cover sudden and accidental damage, such as wind, hail, or debris impact, and generally exclude wear and age. Your own policy decides it. Phoenix Roofing & Repair inspects the roof for free and tells you which one it shows before you file anything.
Will you cover my deductible?
No. Phoenix Roofing & Repair collects the deductible in full because Arizona law requires it. Inflating an estimate to absorb a deductible is a false statement to an insurer under A.R.S. 20-463, and a class 6 felony under A.R.S. 20-466.01. Any contractor who offers to is breaking the law.
How long do I have to file a roof insurance claim?
Your policy sets the deadline, and most carriers require prompt notice after the damage happens. Arizona voids any property policy term limiting the time to bring an action to less than one year, under A.R.S. 20-1115. Read your policy, then call. Waiting makes damage harder to tie to one storm.
Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?
Get the roof documented first. A claim opened on a phone description gets an adjuster who decides what is damaged. A claim opened with dated photos, measurements, and a written scope gets an adjuster who checks a record. The inspection costs nothing either way.
What is the difference between ACV and RCV?
Actual cash value pays replacement cost minus depreciation, and that deduction is yours to absorb. Replacement cost value pays the full cost in two checks: the depreciated amount minus your deductible first, then the recoverable depreciation once the work is finished and documented. Your declarations page says which you have.
What happens if my roof claim is denied?
A denial is not the end of it. Phoenix Roofing & Repair prepares a supplement documenting what the first estimate missed, and carriers re-inspect when there is new evidence to look at. If the dispute turns on policy language rather than roof condition, you need a licensed public adjuster or an attorney.
Will filing a roof claim raise my rates?
That decision belongs to your carrier. Phoenix Roofing & Repair will not guess at it. Rate changes depend on your policy, your claim history, and the carrier’s own rules, so ask your agent before you file. What we can tell you for free is whether you have a claim worth filing.
Do you meet the insurance adjuster?
Yes. We attend every adjuster meeting, 100% of the time. Our inspector is on the roof walking the damage and answering technical questions with the photos in hand. Phoenix Roofing & Repair is licensed in Arizona under ROC #340941, and the approved scope is what gets built.
Can I finance my insurance deductible?
Yes, and it stays legal because you still pay it in full. Financing spreads the deductible over lender terms rather than removing it. That is the opposite of a contractor absorbing it, which is a false statement to an insurer under A.R.S. 20-463. Terms come from the lender.
